About
World Records for Schools (WRS)
World
Records for Schools (WRS) is an educational association for
the coordination and publication of world records related to amazing,
outstanding and unique achievements by students and schools. WRS officials
believe that when schools attempt world records their students learn important
skills--including communication, concentration, cooperation, creativity,
logistics, organization, problem-solving strategies, self-discipline and
respect for others.
WRS began in 1987 as an informal organization
of interested teachers in Granite School District, Utah. It was officially
organized in 2004. Today it is an all-volunteer organization of students
and adults that is directed and supported by professional educators. It
publicizes and provides links to world records held by groups of students
and schools--along with the organizations that recognize them--for the
benefit of its worldwide Internet audience of students, educators and
parents. In addition, WRS occasionally certifies and recommends records
and rules to interested students and schools.
